Fit for Surgery
Objective and Goal:
Fit for Surgery allows participants to prepare for elective surgery by increasing cardiovascular fitness and building muscle tone. It's structured over an eight-week period on land or in the pool and is supervised by certified exercise specialists. It is based on the participant's level of conditioning and individual needs. The goal of the program is to improve fitness level and increase muscle strength before surgery, which may result in a faster recovery times.
Program Details:
Length of the Program:
- The Fit for Surgery program is an 8 week period with group sessions meeting M-W-F at 1:00 pm. Individuals will be encouraged to exercise a minimum 3 days per week, max of 5 days a week.
How to Enroll:
- Individuals must be referred to the program through a physician with limitations and recommendations.
Physician Approval:
- All participants will fill out a Health History Questionnaire and be required to have a physician's approval prior to beginning exercise.
