Occupational Therapy Month began in April of 1980. The purpose of dedicating an entire month to the profession of an Occupational Therapist is to highlight the amazing impact the profession has on our society. Their customized approach to evaluations and interventions create amazing outcomes that can help a child with disabilities participate in school as well as in social situations, assist a person recovering from injuries to regain skills, and aid an older adult to stay as independent as possible. These few examples show that an Occupational Therapist, or Occupational Therapy Assistant, are part of a vitally important profession that helps people across their lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do to live life to the fullest.
Thank an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant in the month of April because you never know when you or a loved one might need their help.
